Duke TIP Grant Programs Aid Students
The Duke Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) partners with two of the nation's premier foundations to provide outstanding programs for academically gifted students with financial needs. The Next Generation Venture Fund (NGVF), a signature initiative program of the Goldman Sachs Foundation, and the Young Scholars Program, funded by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation (JKCF), provide Duke TIP with financial resources to serve a diverse group of academically gifted students.
Through the NGVF and JKCF programs, Duke TIP supports student success through the talent searches, summer programs, college preparation, and academic guidance, preparing these students for future success.
As a part of the Next Generation Venture Fund, Duke TIP is proud to have received a $4.5 million grant from the Goldman Sachs Foundation. This investment is a significant one that will increase the number of gifted and talented youth served from underrepresented populations in Duke TIP's 16-state region by expanding the existing scholarship support and educational services available to them over a five-year period from 2009-2013. In total, the Goldman Sachs Foundation has awarded $5.5 million to Duke TIP's Next Generation Venture Fund program.
"We are grateful to the Goldman Sachs Foundation and the Jack Kent Cook Foundation for providing this tangible support for these bright young people," said Martha Putallaz, Duke TIP executive director. "The generosity that both foundations have provided has made a significant difference in the lives of students and their families."
