New endowment gifts provided the Nicholas School with permanent resources for student scholarships, and much of the school's Annual Fund - up by 13 percent - was dedicated to student aid as well. Other endowment gifts helped fund faculty chairs and environmental research projects. The school welcomed two new industry partners to its Climate Change Policy Partnership in 2006-07 and dedicated the new Repass Ocean Conservation Center at the Duke Marine Lab. In 2007-08, the school is focusing fund-raising efforts on financial aid, faculty support, and policy partnerships. Atmospheric chemist William Chameides was named the school's new dean effective September 1, 2007.
