14th annual Duke University Heritage Society luncheon

The Office of Gift Planning hosted the 14th annual Duke University Heritage Society luncheon on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Washington Duke Inn Hotel & Golf Club. Our team truly enjoyed catching up with local Duke alumni and friends on such a beautiful, sunny day.

We hold this lunch each year as a way to thank members of the Duke Heritage Society who reside within Durham, Raleigh, or Chapel Hill, NC. The Heritage Society honors alumni and friends who have included Duke in their estate plans or have made some other type of future gift to Duke.

We were especially delighted to have Dr. Brian Hare, Associate Professor in the Department of Evolutionary Anthropology and founder of the Duke Canine Cognition Center, with us to share a bit about his research into the minds of dogs. It was fascinating to learn what a profound impact the domestication of dogs has made on the intelligence, behavior, and character of our beloved pets. Given the lively discussion at the close of our event, we think everyone really enjoyed his talk!

From all of us at Duke, we’d like to express our deepest gratitude for your commitment to this special place. Your support will ensure that the university can continue to recruit top faculty and staff, support groundbreaking research, and improve the lives of future generations. As always, please feel free to contact us if we can be of service in any way.
