16th annual Duke Heritage Society luncheon
On Thursday, June 6th, the Office of Gift Planning hosted the 16th annual Duke Heritage Society luncheon at the Washington Duke Inn Hotel & Golf Club.
Our team hosts this event each year as a way to thank local Duke alumni and friends who have included the university in their estate plans. It was a pleasure to spend a beautiful afternoon with such a fun, energetic crowd.
Our keynote speaker, Heather E. Whitson, MD, MHS joined us from the Duke Aging Center to discuss her research efforts aimed at improving care and health outcomes for individuals with multiple chronic conditions.
We learned that aging-related research has entered a new era in which basic science seeks to understand, at a molecular level, what causes changes in our ability to respond to health stressors. It was inspiring to hear how Duke is contributing to this important work.
