Duke Michiganders connect in Metro Detroit

On a chilly evening in Birmingham, MI, a warm gathering of Blue Devil alumni, parents and friends attended the Duke Heritage Society dinner at The Stand Bistro on March 13. Heritage Society members Jim L’95 and Jane Davlin welcomed attendees as the generous and gracious hosts.

Steve Nowicki, dean and vice provost for undergraduate education, was the speaker for the evening and shared a “State of the University” update. Dean Nowicki covered the recent success of the Duke Forward campaign, shared insight on the presidential transition, and talked about what’s next for Duke.

The crowd was boisterous and asked many engaging questions. Dean Nowicki and guests discussed topics ranging from the Duke Kunshan campus to how recent updates in the tax law may affect philanthropic giving. We were honored to have such an enthusiastic group of alumni with us in Metro Detroit.

Duke’s Office of Gift Planning is thankful for the time spent with our Michigan friends. We hope to connect with each of you soon in Durham or somewhere closer to home! Please feel free to contact us if we can be of service in any way.
