Duke celebrates its Centennial!

“Our Centennial is a gift to us: our chance to pause and contemplate our past, to appreciate our present, and to plan for our future.”

President Vincent E. Price

The weather outside was frightful but Cameron Indoor Stadium was delightful as the Duke community celebrated the university’s 100th birthday on January 9, 2024. The stage came alive with more than 100 terrific student performers from Duke’s multicultural music and dance groups. The event had something for everyone; actor Ken Jeong (one of Duke’s most famous alumni) kept us laughing and Duke medical faculty moved us to tears discussing their cutting-edge research. President Vincent E. Price offered wise words about Duke’s opportunity and responsibility to lead in the 21st century. And finally, Mike Krzyzewski (Hall of Fame basketball coach) spoke of where Duke is going and how no one can imagine how good we are going to be.

Your friends in Duke’s Office of Gift Planning look forward to Duke’s next 100 years and we hope you are along for the ride!
